How to Treat Yourself Like a Queen
My reminders for self-care. Fibroids are non-cancerous tumors that lie in/around the uterus. The main symptoms are heavy bleeding, anemia, and pain. According to the https://www.womenshealth.gov/a-z-topics/uterine-fibroids, about 20 percent to 80 percent of women develop fibroids by the time they reach age 50. I have been dealing with fibroids for 11 years and conquering it with fitness, yoga, and nutrition. I also coach other women suffering to do the same. It was not until the last couple of years, I realized that I was lacking self-care.
As a nurse, and a coach it’s very easy for me to make sure everyone else is taken care of. I remember coming home and feeling drained emotionally, on top of the anemia and hormonal roller coaster that comes with fibroids. I was not showing up for myself mentally, physically and emotionally. My car, home was a complete mess, I was in a relationship that I knew was not going to last. I never made time to organize my environment. At the end of the day the way I treat my environment in which I live is a reflection of the way I treat my internal space.
All of this has opened my eyes to a series of other bad habits I developed. I feel these bad habits have played a role in my relapse of fibroids, where the fibroids grew progressively larger in a short timeframe. I have learned fibroids is a reminder to treat myself like a Queen. I made a Fibroid Queen checklist of 6 traits I follow to keep self- care a priority. Following this checklist has made me love the women I am becoming. I have more confidence and I feel like a total bad-ass, lol. My standards for myself are up as well as for others, and I treat others the way I want to be treated.
Thank you fibroids for reminding me to live the life I destined for and to continue evolving to be the best for others.
